Dance Ministry

Description: Dancing is apart of the Williamsport Assembly of God’s visual arts ministry. Dance is the expression of joyful rhythmical movement to musical accompaniment.

Purpose: The function of the dance is to present our worship to the Lord.

Theme Verse: Psalm 149:3 Let them praise His name with dancing…

Activities:

Our dance leader tries to choreograph our worship team’s music to the dance.
The team has been asked to dance for special events and will occasionally use the flag team in their performances.
Dance team usually meets once a week to practice.

Drama Ministry

Description: We use drama for many different things. Almost every Easter and Christmas, we do a complete program for the entire service. This is a way for people to see what God did for them in a way they will understand very easily. Also every June, the children do a musical in front of the entire church. It is a first step to teaching them ministry at a young age. We also do a lot of illustrated sermons. These sermons have skits that go with the sermon; that way people are able to see what is being taught.

Purpose: To teach God's Word in a way that people can easily absorb. Through vivid music, characters, stage settings and other tools, we can reach out to a broader audience.

Theme Verse: No specific verse is linked with our drama program, but in looking at how Jesus used parables throughout the New Testament, one can see how stories were are such an important way of delivering messages. Such illustrations allow people of different backgrounds and view points to identify with the important messages of God's teaching.

Activities:

We usually have original dramas on holidays such as, Christmas and Easter.
Our "Sunday Night Live" dramas use comedy as a way to deliver a message in yet a different context.

Flag Ministry

Description: Here at Williamsport Assembly of God, we wave flags, tabrets, congregational silks and streamers in our worship services. Visual worship is a form of communication that we use to proclaim who God is to us. These worship tools can represent a name, a character trait, or an attribute of God that we are lifting up. They are used as instruments of praise, worship, warfare and intercession. Through visual worship we are communicating to God, and also to others around us.

Purpose: Flags, tabrets, streamers etc, are all physical adornments that symbolize the Spiritual. Our purpose in using them is to minister to the Lord.

Theme Verse: "… In the name of our God we lift up our banners."

(Psalm 20:5)

Activities:

Our flag team has been asked to participate in special events.
Our flag team has been asked to participate in Dance specials.
Our team leader holds annual and impromptu meetings.
Our team usually waves every worship service.

Food Pantry Ministry

Description: A program that provides supplemental food packages for those in the church that have such a need.

Purpose: To help care for one of our most basic needs.

Intercessory Ministry

Description: A Time to come together to worship and intercede for the church and the lost people of Williamsport. We gather in the sanctuary and have a small teaching and than we worship and pray for what ever is on our heart.

Purpose: To keep praying for the lost; this city needs Jesus and we know that there is power in prayer.

Theme Verse: “And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and were holding golden bowls full of incense, which were the prayers of the saints.” (Revelation 5:8)

Activities:

Tuesday night prayer open to all who feel led to come.

Purpose: To grow a Christ-Centered ministry targeted to the needs of men. We want to create an environment of trust and confidence that allows men to share their true feelings with one another, and respond to each other in times of need. Through existing programs and new ideas, we want to draw in men from outside our church who do not yet have a Christian relationship.

Theme Verse of Ministry: Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. (Jeremiah 17:7)

Description: We have a team of volunteers that have a heart for the elderly. They visit with individuals at local nursing homes, reaching out to them with the love of Christ.

Description: All those who are 55 yrs and older are invited to an informal monthly gathering at the church where we meet around the table for some great cooking and Christian fellowship with each other in song, prayers, and praise.

Purpose: To have fellowship with friends in the church. We reach out to the seniors in the church and get them connected with new friends.

Description: All adult singles are welcome to join the regular gatherings for great Christian fellowship with fun activities and more.

Description: All Women's Ministry activities fall under a program called "Women of Purpose."

Purpose: Reaching, discipline, building and training women through the transforming power and love of Jesus Christ to find their place of ministry and effectively touch their world.

The Williamsport Assembly of God places great value in the power of worship. From traditional music to contemporary music - to prayer services and drama, we engage in all areas of praise and worship to bring glory to God and share
His message with others.

Description: The Youth Program at the Williamsport Assembly of God is call "Echelon." We're all about God! We worship with all we have and hold nothing back because God has given us everything we have. We use those things; pool table, foosball, ping-pong and Corner Café, as tools for reaching the youth in our community. Friday nights include prayer time to start, play games and eat lots of food, worship - giving God all we have with some dynamic praise. When we are done with that, it is time to hear what God has with brief lessons geared specifically for the youth.

Purpose: Our purpose is to make a place for the youth of Williamsport to come and get fed the Word of God without making just another club. We want to see this city on fire for God and our goal is to keep “Raising the Bar” in youth ministry.
